Vern was in the Engineers so he drove trucks. Started in California- shipped out of Fort Lewis, Washington to Korea. Where he drove trucks delivering people and supplies. He was able at the peace site. They put up and took down these large balloons night and morning. This was for 30 days at a time.
He could have went to Tokyo, Japan on R&R, but decided not to go. The plane on the way back crashed killing everyone aboard.
