He was stationed in Sasebo, Nagasaki Japan and then Sasebo, Japan. November 1945. He was battalion barber. Nagasaki was where one of the bombs were dropped on the Mitsubiski Army Assembly plant (aircraft factory) where about 70,000 people were killed, another 70,000 suffered injuries.
He went to Boot Camp at Sand Diego, California then to San Fransisco, California. he worked on the ordinances division of 2nd Marine Division of Marine Corp. when they dropped the atomic bomb, so he was part of the clean up instead of invasion.
Max worked for Atomic Energy Commission November 1948- 1949 in Grand Junction, Colorado with Brother Bert Allred. He was also in the CCC's for six months. Max and his crew did the work for Shell Oil in the Altamont Field.
