I entered basic training in August of 1957 at Ft. Carson, Colorado. Upon completion of basic training, they sent me to New Jersey and then home to Utah for Christmas. After a short leave for Christmas I went to New Jersey from December to February of 1958. Following my electronic training in New Jersey I spent three months in Huntsville Alabama at the Red Stone Arsenal, receiving training on the launcher systems for the Nike and Hercules missiles.
Following my training in Alabama I was transferred to Los Cruces, New Mexico. I was stationed at the White Sands Missile Range. My duties there consisted of preparing missiles for launch, test firing missiles, as well as maintaining and repairing launcher systems. I stayed in Los Cruces until I was discharged at Ft. Bliss, Texas in 1959.
