While in the service I was able to travel to Puerto Rico and many other bases in the US, mostly on the East Coast. I went through the NCO Academy at Ft Dix, NJ
I didn’t serve during any combat period but I did get a 3 month extension at the beginning of the Viet Nam War.
In Norfolk, VA I was in training with one of the first joint training exercises with the US Navy and the US Marines
I had the opportunity to meet a lot of new friends and see a lot of places I wouldn’t have otherwise.
